The past few months have been kind of hectic for me. I've got a lot of constant activities to deal with, and coupled with that, I've also got some financial challenges that led me to dive into loans to curb the challenges. Ever since then, I've been hard on myself regarding how much I spend on myself, but during the last weekend, I came to the consensus that I also needed some pampering with those enormous tasks, so I got myself something tantalizing.
The list of activities has to do with my work place, where I work as a teacher. It happened that during the examination of the students, my fellow ICT teacher lost her husband, and for that reason she was given a break off work, and of course I felt sad for her, but with that happening I was left to deal with the making and recording of her script of about 480, in addition to my own popular class of 560, that really drain me.
I was completely exhausted from that stress, and even though I'm still dealing with it, despite all of those activities and dealing with my employer at my shoemaking shop, I was unable to take care of myself and mostly ate poorly because of the loan I obtained and the worry that I wouldn't be able to repay it. However, after weeks of this going on, I had a change of heart last week and made the decision to experience luxury at least once, if not more.
So with that mindset, I pay a visit to a lot restaurant in my neighborhood late in the night to see what I can get, but on arriving there, I remember that I don't like eating out, so instead I opted for something more snacky like chicken and chips, and after going through the various prices, I decided to just go ahead with the chicken and chips and some salad.
Since there's no chicken restaurant around Epe vicinity, the price of this restaurant was much higher than the price I saw online on the chicken restaurant webpage, but the chicken, chips, and salad with sauce were still worth $5, which is about ₦3500 in Nigerian currency. I had it packaged and then returned home.
While in my neighborhood, I purchased a bottle of my favorite drink, Pepsi, then went inside and sat comfortably on the bed as I devoured the entire bag of chips, the salad with chicken, and then flushed it all down my stomach with the bottle of Pepsi. It was a wonderful experience, and I felt relief and accomplishment after trying to remove the meat glue from my teeth.
In the end, I've realized that, despite our circumstances, we should constantly make time for ourselves, enjoy life to the fullest, and pamper ourselves since, despite the fact that obstacles will always arise, this shouldn't be the justification for treating ourselves less. I've vowed after that to return to that shop frequently moving forward.
