Why I'd Never Work in the GNLD Marketing Field

There are loads of jobs out there that one can possibly dive into and earn a decent income from. I, for one, have worked in nothing less than 10 different fields in search of greener pastures. While each has its lapse, they still save the day in one way or another, but in all of my search and quest for greener pastures, I've come across one job that, no matter how much they pay, I would never dive into. In this post, I'll tell you what that job is and why I had such a mindset.

Like I said earlier, I've done many jobs in my short time here on earth, jobs like catering, living statue, laborer, bricklayer, teacher, sales representative, cleaner, receptionist, and several others, to mention but a few, and each of these met my need at that point in time. But along the line, while I indulged in all of this, there was one job I usually see as workers, and their sight alone is a discouragement to me.

The job is none other than that of the popular GNLD marketeers that fill the streets of most cities in Nigeria. Before I dive into the job, it's worth noting that I'm talking about all other jobs related to GNLD or whose methods of transaction relate to those of GNLD and marketing.

Now what is GNLD and its related business? GNLD are organizations that promise to pay their staff heavily, but you'll need to be bestowed with some drugs and other products that must be sold to the general public. The more you say, the more you earn in commissions and the like. I'm sure that will sound cool to your ears, but the bitter truth is that those drugs and their other products are usually very expensive and also promise to heal illnesses at a faster pace than one could imagine.

Although many attest to the product being effective, it definitely isn't made for the poor or an average man, so if an average man were to work in such a field, then I'd most likely be unable to say any of the products it bestows on me because most of the people in my circle are also average men like me, so if you've seen how most of those who worked under this firm market their products, you'll definitely not want to indulge in it.

You literally see them roaming around the street, but under the scorching hot sun and during the rain, in search of potential buyers. They usually look tired and exhausted because of how far and wide they walk, and at the end of the day, they can go a whole week without selling any products, and when you don't sell, it means you won't get paid because their payment is generated based on the amount of products sold.

So what are my reasons for not wanting to work for such an organization? By now, I guess you should know a bit about why, but I've highlighted some other reasons below.

  • I'm an introvert: GNLD and other marketing-related jobs require one to be outspoken and also have the ability to convince others to buy what they're selling. That's a hard task for me as an introvert who doesn't like to talk much, is outside, and isn't ready to convince people to buy a product that's that expensive.

  • I don't like stress:. The job is one that literally drains those who indulge in it; walking a long distance and talking all day long can be draining, so for someone like me who doesn't really enjoy indulging in activities that are too stressful, for that reason, I won't indulge in it.

  • No certainty of payment: That job has no certainty of payment because the actual wages are very low, and the major way they attract workers is the huge commission they stand to get for each sale of the product. As someone who isn't good at marketing, I won't want to indulge in a job that I'll spend hours on only to be paid peanuts.

That's about it for now. I hope you enjoyed the read. Do well to read the next Kronia post to catch a glimpse of the topic and the requirements needed for you to participate in this prompt.     Thanks so much for your time. Have a blessed and productive week ahead.
