With great joy in my heart and that of those students that represent us in every single sporting activity we indulge in during this course of this interhouse sports competition, I'm excited to say that we came out victorious in the activity, though we didn't come in first overall. I'm pleased with these results because they're one step ahead of the 3rd place position we finished in during the last year of this competition. I'm thrilled and super excited about these results and our position because, at the beginning of the event, I'd had little or no belief that we could arrive at a significant position during this competition, and that's because of how my house was changed and how I was given a new house to work in a few days for the main competition. This weighs me down, and I was dejected because I had trained with my former team, but even though I was disappointed, I never let it show to the students; instead, I made them believe that nothing is impossible for them to achieve if they train well and stay positive and committed to achieving the best, and nothing short of that.
And at the end of the day, we were able to get students who came from zero believing in themselves to being confident and waving off what situations around them might be saying. We started the interhouse sports competition with the spoon and lime race, and we did amazing well in that particular event, when we ended up having two silver medals, each from the boys and girls event. In the sack race, we were able to come in third and had two bronze medals in that event as well, which is still decent, although we could have done better. In the bottle water filling event, we won a gold medal in the boys event and also got a hold medal in the 200-meter race of the boys event.
We also won a silver medal in the girls football match events. When we lost to Pink House in the final match, our boys could only settle for a silver medal in the long jump event, which our girls won nothing from, but we kept on going. We didn't win any medals in the matching parade, but then we tried our best, just as the other houses did pretty well than we did. Those and many more were the events we participated in, although I can't wrap my head around them for now.
But the scoreboard will do justice to how each house won a medal in the various events and how the positions were distributed. Like I said, the yellow house had the most gold and came first, we came second, and the green house came third. It is painful to see my former house not be able to do well enough despite having many medals; they had just one gold, and that made them second to the last, I feel for the young ones because they were pained by the results, one even walked up to me and said, had I been the one who led them, they would have done and performed better than they did, well it's all gone now.
This to me is a step forward because last year I wrote this post and celebrated coming third in the competition, and this year we know we came second. Who knows if the first reality will come next year, when the competition will be held again?
