Nicknames are like our short and fancy names among our friends in circles. It's more or less what we are popular for, and it usually comes with a story. Over the years, I've had about three nicknames, each with a story behind it. While some were pleasant stories, others weren't because the nickname came through, and today I would like to share with you everything about each of them.
My first nickname came during my secondary school days. I was an introvert and hardly talked. One of the downsides of being an introvert in school is that you get picked on by bullies and extroverts in the school. For this reason, when someone is quiet and just sits by himself like me, which is inevitable, I get a very horrible nickname. I was called Afisogboye, meaning "award-winning farter." It was a very annoying name that got me angry, but since I don't like to fight and neither do I talk much, I tried to say I wasn't the one who did what caused the name, the extroverts in the class who lied on me won the conversation because they have the louder and most convincing voice.
What led to the name was that. Someone farted in the class, and the smell was horrible. Unfortunately, when people looked back and were trying to decipher who polluted the air, the boy sitting next to me, who is an extrovert, quickly pointed at me, calling me names and saying I'm the one who farted. I was very angry because I definitely wasn't the one who did that, and it's more like he was the one who did it and was just trying to cover it up by using me as a scapegoat. You managed to convince the entire class that I was the one who did it, and that was how I got the nickname Afisogboye; it was a disgusting nickname, I must say.
For the second nickname, I'm not the type who talk much, but then, as you know, people get nicknames either knowingly or unknowingly. I got my first nickname tcode because, at the time, Nigerian musician Olamide was on the record label known as Coded Tune, and for one reason or another, most of my friends then called themselves by the first aphabet of their name and code, and because my name started with the letter T, they started calling me tcode. This is how I came to be called Tcode, so when I wanted to play Splinterlands, I even created an account with the name @tcode98 as well, I kind of like it and most of my old friend still address me with it.
The nickname Vickoly is one I gave myself. Although initially I used to call my cousin, who is known as Victoria, by that name, later on, after I was playing PlayStation, I indulged in one of its features: "become a legend." I created a player and named him Vickoly, and believe me, the guy was doing exceedingly well each time I played. He is a top striker that I enjoy using, and he keeps breaking records. This kind of gives me some bubbles and joy because, in the physical sense, I'm not a great football player, so being the top scorer in the Champions League and several other tournaments in the game makes me feel proud, and that's how I adopted the name by myself and bear it till date.
That's about all I know about my nicknames and how I got them. This write-up was inspired by the Hive Learning Community writing prompts. Please read through this post to get more information.
Thanks so much for your time, have a wonderful day.
