The Power of a Supportive Circle: Honoring the Key Figures in My Life's Journey

The circle of a man usually determines how far he'll go in life. With the right circle of friends around you, one tends to excel in all they do because those circles don't just give advice but also help in various capacities to facilitate. I've been fortunate to have some of these people around me, and here is my recognition and appreciation for them.

Like I said, I'm blessed with loads of people who are instrumental to my growth and how far I've come in life, and I owe it all to each one of them at one point or another. I'm grateful for their support and wonder what my life will be like without them.

To start, the most valuable people who are instrumental to my life and growth are my parents; without them, I guess there'll be no me, or at least not in this form. These great souls have done a lot for me; they've sacrificed a lot to become the man I am today. Without exaggerating, they literally worked their asses out and drained themselves just to make sure I amounted to something in life.

I didn't come from a rich family, and growing up, I saw my parents indulge in various jobs just so we, the children, could be educated and hopefully get a good job to make life easier for us. It's a disheartening sight to behold. I can remember a time when I and two of my siblings were at the university at the same time. Loads of money are required to pay our school, and I couldn't stand the sight of seeing my mom work as a security guard overnight in an organization just so she could bring something to the table. And that's aside from the trading job she does during the day.

My dad, on the other hand, worked in the ministry of education, but the salary wasn't enough to cover our fees, so he had to do other jobs and even take huge loans that almost sent him to an early grave because of the stress they put him through. Here I am now, a graduate, and several students couldn't continue and dropped out because their parents couldn't afford it, so I held them in high esteem. I'm forever grateful for those acts of love, advice, upbringing, and several other things, so here I am to say I cherish and adore you.

Another influential set of people in my life are the two caterers I worked with throughout my undergraduate days. I was in search of a medium to earn money so as to reduce the workload on my parents, and these women took me as their son. Both had no connection other than the fact that they were separate caterers I worked with, but I can tell you without an atom of a doubt that I found a Mother and destiny helped me in them.

They go by the names Mrs. Edu Kafayat and Mrs. Enilolobo Elizabeth. These women did a lot to make life easier for me during my school days, and I can remember a day I went to an event with Mrs. Edu. We arrived late, and she dropped me and my friends off before leaving for her house. Not long after she left, we met some traditional worshipers who don't Oro, a masquerade forbidden for women not to see; even men who see it end up in trouble.

I don't know what to do, so before those guys got to us, I came in to inform her about the situation we're in. In less than a minute, she drove to that spot and faced the masquerade that was forbidden for women. She kept shouting at the people and telling them these were her children, and she wouldn't allow them to do anything to us. In the end, she was allowed to take us, and that's how we slept in her place over the night.

Although that encounter affected her because she was hit with a charm, she luckily survived it. The other woman, Mrs. Enilolobo, was just like her too; she also treated me as her son and did call me for any open opportunity that would benefit my life. I can remember that she was the one who informed me about the job opening at the place where I presently work. These are wonder souls, and I don't see them as random strangers but as my mother.

The way things stand, like I said, I'm grateful for all their support, help, and motherly advice. Aside from this, I feel like I'm indebted to them, or at least make sure to help their own children in any possible way I can, because one good turn definitely deserves another.

That's all in my circle of influence, and the article was inspired by the hive learners community features prompt, Which you can get more information about here.

Thanks for your time, have a wonderful day ahead.
