THE GREATEST COMPLIMENT I EVER RECEIVED

A compliment can be compared to medication for the soul and a mood lifter that has the power to transform our mood since we tend to feel joy when we hear comments from others. Receiving praise and compliments from others is undoubtedly one of the finest things anyone would love to experience.

Looking back on my life experience over the years, I can see that I have received a lot of compliments. Each one has had a similar effect on me and my attitude throughout those times, and the impact has been nothing short of joy, even though I often blush when I hear such kind words.

I will thus be writing about the various compliments I've previously received, from whence they came, and how I felt about them today in response to the topic selected by the hive learners community. I'll also provide some insight into which compliments have personally meant the most to me throughout time.

FROM A FRIENEMY

I once wrote about a woman friend who kept bugging me to satisfy her urge for sex on a particular day for reasons that are best known to me. However, I declined her request, and a friend of mine who saw how she was acting and wanted to take advantage of her ultimately gave in to her demands, which essentially destroyed both of their lives.

That ruins their life because they had sex that day, which led to them becoming parents at an early age. A few years after that incident, I can recall running into both of them on various points, and they couldn't help but compliment my ability to refrain from having sex while their inability to control their urge completely wrecks their life.

That compliment made me proud, although I felt bad for them, but I can't help but imagine how my life would have been assuming I was the one who fell into the trap my friend fell into, which made him a father and a husband at a very tender age.

FROM FORMER EMPLOYEE

The praise I got from a previous job is one of the remarks I read and appreciate. I recall that I asked for a pay raise before I left my job at the company, but they declined. This, along with other factors, led to my departure, but only one month later, I can recall getting a call from my previous employer pleading with me to return.

Although I decline their offer, his comments to me on that particular day made me feel unique. I said, "Victor, it appears that you have become indispensable at our company since we have been unable to find a substitute who will give our job everything I they have like you did, Please return, and we'll revise your pay to any level you like." Because of that assertion, I nearly decided differently, but in the end I declined the offer.

FROM MY BROTHER

My younger brother, who had spent more than six months in the hospital, turned to face me from the ill bed he was in as I hurried in to help him tidy up the mess surrounding him before the nurse made a scene without taking into account his predicament. He gave me a glance and remarked, "You are the best person I have ever met, Brother Victor. Beyond my comprehension, you have shown me acts of love and selflessness. If I had the opportunity to choose a sibling in my next life, I would always choose you."

That statement literally brought me to tears, but I tried to hide it by comforting him instead and telling him that everyone else who wasn't able to stay with him during this difficult time cares about him and would have done the same. However, deep down, I feel proud of myself, and thanks to God, he is now healthy and fine.
