Due to the prolonged fuel shortage, which has impacted many individuals in ways beyond what I can mention, the past few weeks have been intense for the majority of my town and the country as a whole. I personally have experienced some of the effects, such as spending more than 10 hours in line at the gas station without acquiring anything in the end.
Prior to the scarcity, almost everyone seemed to be doing okay, but since it began, things have gotten progressively worse because it has literally raised the cost of goods and services as well as transportation, and we now only have a small number of vehicles on the road because the drivers are unable to access the fuels.
The fact that I've been arriving at work quite late over the last few days is one of the ways this has significantly affected me, and the reasons for this can't be ruled out because there aren't many automobiles. Before I may board a vehicle to take me to my workplace, I may have to wait up to 40 minutes or longer.
Another way it has affected me is that I now have to pay at least twice as much for transportation to work than I usually do because of the increase in price brought on by the scarcity. I can't blame the drivers for this because you also have to take into account the price of fuel and the time it takes them to get it.
The reason I don't blame the drivers, despite the fact that their price increase affected me, is because when I went to the gas station a few days ago with another coworker to help my boss buy some fuel for her car and for the organization, we encountered an endless line of cars waiting to buy fuel. The line was the same for the gallon as well, and each gallon was even given a number to indicate the order in which they will be attended to.
While at the filing station, I was made to understand that each gallon must pay an extra 500 apart from the normal price of the fuel, and each car too must pay an additional bribe of 1000 once it gets to their turn, or else they won't be attended to. This is very bad, but people have no choice but to compile since that is the only gas station selling at the moment throughout the scarcity.
It's my prayer that things will improve in the coming days, as the holiday season approaches. Because the Christmas season is already known for hikes in price, adding fuel scarcity to the mix will lead to something entirely different, which will ultimately affect what we buy and how we celebrate the season.
Thanks so much for reading through, have a wonderful day.
