On one of my tours around Lagos State, Nigeria, in recent weeks, I came across this elegant structure of an old church that stood majestically among the structures around it. Later, I learned that it was the building of the United Evangelical Church that was founded and was formerly known as Qua Iboe Church. I decided to share my view and experience with you.
Said to have been built in the early 19th century, it's a surprise to see that it's still standing firm and almost as modern and beautiful as some modern churches are, although it has undergone some restructuring, like the glass tower, which was said to have been newly refurbished to replace the old white glass that was there initially at the time of its first construction.
It's said to have a capacity that can contain almost a thousand members in one program and usually runs about three different segments of Sunday service to accommodate her large congregation. Overall, I find it unique, and I'm always amazed by how most old structures still stand firm while modern buildings collapse in no time.
I had to climb the pedestrian bridge adjacent to the church to get a great view and the perfect angle to capture these photos because the structure is proximate to the main road. Although I couldn't go in to get the inside view because I went on a Monday morning and the premises were locked, if my movement were to go through the church on a Sunday, then I'd gladly walk in to capture the inside view and share it with you.
Here are some photos of the other side of the pedestrian bridge, and as you can see, they capture how vehicles move around as everyone goes about their daily business. It's also great to see a bus stop just right beside the pedestrian bridge with buses available to convey one to their Destination easily without having to walk a long distance in search of taxis.
That's about all on my tour for today. This area is known as the Barracks Bus Stop along the Tejuosho Ultramodern Shopping Complex in Yaba, Lagos State, Nigeria. It's a lovely place to be, and I know you'll enjoy your time there.
Thanks so much for your time. I hope you enjoyed the view. Until my next outing, stay blessed and have a wonderful day.
NOTE: All photos are mine and were snapped with my smartphone.
