Everyone certainly wants to make money to make ends meet and accumulate wealth, and since the advent of technology and social media, these have become much easier and cheaper to attain than they used to be. Prior to social media, you had to worry about setting up a store, hiring loads of staff, and erecting several billboards to advertise your product or services. With social media, one doesn't need to spend much to start the business of their dreams.
With social media, you need not worry about renting a store, distance between you and your desired audience, huge capital to start-up, and much more to mention but a few. And despite not having any or all of these things, which used to be the backbone of businesses in the past, with just social media and the right knowledge on how to use it to your advantage, you'll get to earn pretty much at the comfort of your home than someone who did the obsolete method.
A friend of mine has been worried due to a lack of employment for the past 8 years since she graduated from university, and she decided to use her skills in baking, catering, and event decoration as a source of livelihood, but despite all of her efforts, nothing seems to be working out well. And just last month, she took some of Google's digital literacy courses, and after the training and certification, her mind was literally renewed, and she put the knowledge to good use.
So rather than staying in the store she rented without earning much, she closed up the store and moved down to the house to restrategize, designed flyers, and then offered to do home deliveries of snacks to people around our locality for a minimum fee. All she needed was to make these snacks at the comfort of her home. We, her friends, helped publish the flyers on our WhatsApp status, and via that, she's been getting much better sales than she used to when she sat in the store all day with little to show for it.
Her testimony of the impact of social media and digital literacy is exciting; she said she has been able to earn more than three times what she used to earn, and with the way more orders are coming in, she might need to get a delivery bike when she can use it to deliver to her customers around the vicinity because she's been using public transport previously.
The impact of social media can never be overemphasized, and I believe it can be channeled into other aspects different from how she uses hers, such as page management, advertising your products and services, sharing helpful videos on YouTube, and earning in the process. Social media is loaded with loads of opportunities, and the more you dig, the more you'll find.
