Good day everyone here in the needwork Community, my friends and intending friends on the hive blockchain, I hope everyone is having a great time and as well doing exploits in our various fields of profession?, Today I'll love to bring to your sight the Slippers I intend on surprising my friend whose birthday comes up on 26th of this month with. https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/vickoly/23wqs1hzpSRxsUKsWA8mADszgGux6pp9pU5vJAqoTzCLvXk9Z6aekqfH5gFi8wG7sCUqo.jpg
We get to become friends during our NYSC(Nigeria youth service corp) day, that is a one year compulsory service to Nigeria for all graduates in the country, Though we first met at the camp where we had to do different military drill and Training, but due to the stress from such activities, we couldn't get along very well, but after the camp activities, we got along well because we reside in the same house and get to realise we have a lot in common, from studying the same course, to being a lover of music and drama.
We became best of friends, and despite being that it's been 3years since we last saw each other, we still communicate via social media, so I decided to gift him a pair of slippers to celebrate his special day for being a good friend to me.
I've actually made and share this type of Slippers for a client before, I could remember, when I shared it on my WhatsApp status, he had a positive review of the Slippers, and that's why I chose to do something of almost the same for him.
Although it's worthy of note, that in the look alike I did some month ago, I mix the upper material with but leather and a animal skin Material, but here I use a single material, also I used a silicon tube and a thong robe on the earlier one, but here nor of this item were been used.
MATERIAL USED
- Leather material
- Gucci logo
- Marco insole
- Gum
- Super Glue
- Vibram Soles
THE MAKING PROCESS
I once thoroughly explained the making of the almost look alike of the Slippers when I posted the A-Z of how I made this elegant Slippers with a leather(skin) material coupled with a Gucci logo, so my explanation here might be minimal, but you can check it out for better understanding.
- For the measurements, we actually have the same foot size, so the measurement is 45.
And once that was achieve, I cut out the upper, sole, and insole according to my foot size, after which I stated attaching them to the linning, by rubbing gum on each part of the upper and the insole.
-
Unlike the earlier post I was referring to, here I used a lightweight Marco material for the insole, and then I sew around the insole And the upper of the slippers.
-
Then I join the upper together to form the shape I desire and tested it on a shoe last; that's a wooden Material shaped in the form of human leg. https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/vickoly/23uFPY2zVLbBhfrv9Xb6AquPtvHvZUCuEoNUjiYn4SSBUPJFequxDtzWNEdpfdFupBiTD.jpg

Since it's a ready made foreign outsole, I just applied gum on it inner part, and the insole where the upper have been join, then I place it aside to dry for some minutes before placing it on eachother and hit with a hammer for firm sticking, I also applied super glue so it will join perfectly.

He's certainly going to love it, I intend on way billing the Slippers through a delivery firm that in the business of delivery item around western state in Nigeria.
THINGS I'VE LEARNT
Looking at the Slippers I realize, I need to work on my sewing shape and neatness, meer looking at the Slippers I realize the sewing on the insole isn't straight and neither was the curving part well sewed, I've learnt my lesson and I hope to practice and improve in that aspect.
Thanks so much for checking out my blog post, have a blessed and productive week ahead.
