It's been awhile since I last visit my farmland, due to the journey I embarked on some weeks ago, and heading back to the village where the farm is located, the reception I got was a fight that ensure between a crop farmer and cattle rearers who lead there cows 🐄 into the farm land of the alleged crop farmer, this lead to the cattles feasting on his plantation and as well destroying his crop.
Though I wasn't there when this happens, but their voice lead me to the place, and getting there, the crop farmer said he got to his farm and saw the cattles feasting on his crop, and in anger while trying to chase them out of his farmland, he hit two of the cows 🐄 with cutlass, which lead to the injury inflected on the cow as you can see in the images.
His actions lead to a fight between him and the cattles rearers, but I got their on time alongside my friend, to stop them from injuring themselves, I was short of words as to how to settle the dispute between them, though I know within me, that all this won't have happened had the cattles rearers not lead their cattles into someone's farmland, but I don't want to sound like I'm defending my tribesman, so I just pointed out both of their fault, and took pictures which will serve as evidence, that I'll present to the community of elders in the community.
This isn't the first time such is happening, and on several occasions, the cattles rearers as been warn to feed the cattles on plain field but they seems to turn a deaf ears to the warning, being a stranger who was accommodated into the community to do their business, they ought to obey the rules, it doesn't even sound reasonable that you're destroying others people's work just to make sure yours is fine.
The issues didn't even allow me get to my own farm, because we were afraid they'll pick up their fight once we left, so we just lead them from the farm into the village.
A meeting as been scheduled to take place between the elders, farmers and cattle rearers, and it seems the villagers as had enough of how the northerners they accommodated are destroying their farm produce, am afraid they might be ask to leave and look for somewhere else to rear their cattles.
I can't even imagine the state my farmland and how the crops will be since I've been away for a while now, since the farm products of those who reside in the village and visit their farm almost on a daily basis isn't safe from cattles feasting.
All images are mine, though my phone battery went down while I was taken some of the pictures, but I continue by using my friends phone.
Thanks for checking out my blog post, have a blessed and productive day ahead.
