Opportunity is like the pathway to success and achieving our goals and aspirations, and it is also like a channel via which we discover our purpose and all that relates to it. These can be likened to a jammed door that only opens once, or a few times if you're lucky. The time such a door would be opened is unknown to anyone, but immediately after it does, you should dive in and carry as many helpful tools as possible that'll aid your life journey before it gets shut again.
Opportunity is like the wind that blows all around us, though it's important and blows across every nuke and cranny of our environment, yet we can only get a few of it at a time, thereby rendering others gone. Opportunity works in the same manner, and once it blows towards us, we've to be prepared and ready to grab it, or else we'll miss it completely in seconds if actions aren't taken on time. I've had different scenarios in my life where I've missed opportunities and those where I've grabbed and made use of the opportunity that comes my way, today I'll you an insight through some of it.

Earlier on in my life, I can remember during my days of searching for admission into college, I had to move down to Kwara State to join my parents after spending almost all of my entire life in Lagos prior to that with my guidance. During the course of my search for admission, I can remember that after doing my post-Utme exam at the University of Ilorin, I got an admission to study my dream course at the institution, but.
Although I was excited, I remembered that my elder brother, who's also a student at that institution, doesn't have freedom, and his life doesn't show someone who's in university because he wasn't allowed to rent a hostel. Our house isn't too far from the university, so he basically goes to lectures from home and still does things we do. I didn't want a similar situation for myself, so I lied to my dad that I had failed the exam, and that led to me moving back to Lagos to seek admission.
I later gained admission to study the same course at another institution in Lagos State. Little did I know that had I taken the opportunity of the first institution I gained admission to, my life journey would have been faster, and I would have completed my education on time. The institution I moved to used to get involved in all forms of strike, and funny enough, when I was in my 3rd year, my younger brother gained admission to the university I rejected, and lo and behold, he even graduated before me due to the constant strike the institution I chose over his did to me.
Then, when talking about an opportunity that I made good use of and grabbed with both hands, I can sight my present job as a typical example of such, because these came at a time when I was only earning pennies from making footwear for customers. I got a call in the evening of a Friday last year to come for an interview the following day in Lagos by 8 a.m.
The call came in when I was in Kwara state; I'd forgotten about applying for the job because it's been almost a year since I did; getting a bus down to Lagos at that odd hour became a problem; I was advised not to travel at that odd hour for my own safety and the uncertainty of whether I'd get the job or not, but I was determined to give it a try, so I got all my necessities and left for Lagos at about 10 p.m. that same night. I didn't arrive at the location until about 30 minutes before the interview the next morning.
On arriving, I went to a rest room, where I changed into aore decent clothes and went in for the interview. Fast forward to the present day, and I'm presently working in the sake field due to the fact that I took that opportunity seriously and decided to try my best, and in the end it worked out perfectly for me.

That's about all of my life experience on two different opportunities I had and how and what both led to; as you can see, one was lost while the other was grabbed to better my life. I wrote these articles in response to the HIVE learners community prompt, which was published via a Kronias post; you can check it out to get more information.
Thanks so much for reading through, have a blessed and productive day.
