It's good to be among like mind in the needlework fields once again, I hope these meet you well and that you're excelling in your various needlework fields, today I'll love to join the train in participating in the needlework contest which encourages us to make jewelry in celebration of the forth coming mother's Day, for our mother's or anyone who as play the role of a mother in any capacity to us, or could be regard as a mother figure around us.
So the jewelry I made as my entry for the jewelry contest for mother's Day instituted by the [Needleworkmonday Community] is a leather bracelet designed with golden and silver colour pin, I could remember the day the contest post was made, I had some questions and worried about if I could make any jewelry with my Crafting skills, but after Google searching the word jewelry and bracelet, I saw loads of leather material jewelry, and this inspired me to work on something like this.
who are you making the jewelry for, and why?
The bracelet/wristband was made for my sister-in-law, that's the wife of my elder brother, she's a very kind hearted and God-fearing lady, who ever since I knew her as always strive towards being a better person in terms of positivity, accountability, caring, helper and many more, he as been helpful to me in advertising my craft to most of her friends and network in general, I've got many mother figure in my life, who as being their for me in different aspect of life and I would love to make something distinct for each and everyone one of them, but let me start with the one for my sister-in-law.
I would have love to make it for my mother, but she doesn't wear any form of jewelry due to her place or worship religion believes, so I'll be making a footwear for her to celebrate the forth coming mother's day, back to my sister-in-law and why I chose her: ever since she got married to my brother, there as been not form of complain or the other, she as bless me with my very first niece and my parents with their first grandchild, and via her good character I've been encourage to give love another chance and hopefully things will work out well the next time I try.
Share with us why you chose this particular project to create for them.
Like I said earlier, I was short of ideas of which jewelry could be made in my line of needlework, and after cross-checking Google, and going through the images results, I felt the one I could try out among the jewelry made with leather material is a wristband/bracelet, because most of the other ones made into a necklace seems hard to accomplish in the first try. https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/vickoly/EowGcQh7wFFMnFJRbnwetkyuvw5zSQJmY7KWAN5Sp6JUS4xrUmchevDyM4SYdpBPkLU.jpg
Give us a little background on your emotional state during and/or after the making of your gift.
During the making of this bracelet I felt indifferent and unsure if I'll be able craft something as gorgeous as those I saw online, but I was able to encourage myself with several styles I've tried out in the past, in which most of them turns out well and some even more beautiful beyond the one's is use as a sample/guide.
When I got through with the wristband, I wish I have enough time to add an additional design on the wristband, which would have been a head of a wristwatch, which I'll just be attached to the middle of the bracelet, but after celebrating Easter with us, the time for them to return home came so quickly, so I had no choice but to roundup the project and give it to her like that.
Though I know I'll be working on something like this sooner than later, because immediately I got through with the bracelet, my own sister love the wristband, after trying it on and instill that I'll do one of such for her.
MATERIALS USED AND THE MAKING PROCESSES
- Leather material
- Shoe pin
- hook-and-loop fastener
- linning
After going some of the different styles of bracelet made with leather material, decided to design some unique and different from the once I saw, so I started by bringing out different materials to decide which one will suit the style best.
- So I cut out the leather material and lining into the the necessary shapes and sizes.

- Then I cut several opening with blade on the material, and fastening the edge with super glue and put a metal hook between it.

- After that I fasten the hook and loop fastener around the ring and sew it down together, I also the other parts of the material interwovenly through the one I cut.

- I started punching the golden and silver colour pin and hook through the material, and after that I cut a straight line leather material which will serve as another joining process other than the hook-and-loop fastener.
