My Idea Wedding

When it comes to a wedding ceremony and what it all entails, a lot of people put in great effort to draw out a master plan for their desired wedding and how they want it all to play out. Many spend years and months preparing for this single day, which is good because it's an occasion that's supposed to happen once in a lifetime, unless you divorce and have to remarry. But then, not everyone wants a flamboyant wedding, and today I'll love to tell you how I envision my wedding day to be.

Firstly, it's worth noting that I'm not really freaked out by weddings or getting married at all. Although I was at a point in my life, now I don't see it as a necessity. But regardless of how I see weddings, I've always had one singular ideology about what I'd love my wedding day to look like. This might not really meet the standard most people and African parents might like, but it's the way I want mine to go, and I hope it does if I eventually get married.

It's also worthy of note that I'm not freaked out by expensive wear, nor do I cherish expensive accessories and the like. I like to keep things simple and don't like to be the center of attention in most things I do, so when it comes to my wedding day, I'll want a situation where everything is simple and not lousy in any way.

Weddings down here in Nigeria are mostly seen as a rejoicing moment for the parents of the parties, and these lead to them inviting loads of guests to the occasion. In fact, you might be surprised to be a groom at your own wedding and be surprised not to know or identify 80 percent of the guests at your own wedding. That's to show how things are done, and here and I'm not a fan of such, so in my own wedding I'll want to do things differently.   pexels-photo-574011.jpeg Image by Lukas on pexels   If it were possible, I'd love to have a wedding that is only comprised of my immediate family members and my spouse's immediate family members. Alongside them, we can also invite a few of our friends and colleagues, and in total, my wedding will be most interesting and exciting if we don't have more than 50 guests.

It's not like I don't like having people around me, but then, I'm not a fan of noise and the like. Also, when it comes to dressing, I'll love to keep it simple; I'm not freaked out by expensive dresses and would just want to be cool and attractive to my bride. On the part of my bride, I'm not a fan of excessive makeup, so I won't be pleased to see my bride make up like a masquerade on our wedding day.   I've seen many naturally beautiful ladies who, on their wedding day, did makeup that made them less beautiful, and yet most of them liked it. I can remember once making a joke that if my spouse looks strange on our wedding day, then I'll refuse to kiss the bride until she cleans off the makeup and looks beautiful.   I'm not against makeup, but against excessive usage, so don't think of me as someone who's anti-modern. If she isn't beautiful, I won't walk up to her for a wedding in the first place, so who is she trying to impress by putting on excessive makeup that makes her less beautiful on our wedding day?

That reminds me of what happened a few years ago when I visited a couple who stayed next to my hostel when I was an undergraduate. They've been married for a couple of years, and on one of my visits, the couple just enlarged their wedding pictures and placed them in the leaving room for the first time. When the children noticed the frame, they asked their mom a shocking question that left her dumbfounded. They asked Mummy, Who's the woman in those wedding pictures with Daddy?" It was shocking, but can we blame the children? Of course not; the woman was dark in complexion, but on her wedding day, she used excessive makeup that made her fair in complexion.

So in a nutshell, I'll love to have my wedding day kept simple, with limited guests, and if it's possible, I'll prefer to have my wedding in an open space like a garden, so I can get to enjoy the serenity of nature and appreciate her beauty as I tie the knot with the love of my life.

That's all about my idea for a wedding day. I hope you enjoyed the read. The writeup was inspired by the Hive Learners community feature prompt.   Thanks so much for your time. Have a great day ahead.
