MY FAVORITE BOARD GAME

When it comes to board games, they have at least as much influence as other games and provide us with pleasure when we play them. Games in general are kinds of amusement and leisure that we enjoy when we partake in them. I like playing board games, and there's one of them I'm good at. Today, I'd like to share with you one of my favorite memories while playing it.

The board game I'll be talking about is the Ludo game. I fell in love with playing the Ludo game all thanks to my aunt, who also loves it and usually encourages me to play with her. During my tender age, I became used to it and even became better, to the point of sometimes winning against her when we play together.

Although my favorite memories of playing the game weren't with her, they were with a young man in his final at the university where he studied petroleum engineering. I was in secondary school then, and I'm not very good in mathematics, so my grandmother referred me to him since he stays in our neighborhood and is good in mathematics.

He agreed to teach me mathematics, but each time I went for his tutoring, he usually insisted we play some Ludo before we began the lesson. I always agreed with him but decided to be lenient with him; thereby, he usually won and became fond of himself, believing he's good and that I stand no chance against him.

Things fell apart one day when I visited him and met his fiancée at home. He began to self-elogize himself, singing the praises of how good he was and how he'd deal with me as usual. The fiancee was laughing devilishly, which got me angry. I decided to teach him a lesson, and by the time we were done playing, I had defeated him 10 to 0. He was so dumbfounded and embarrassed by the outcome of the game.

He didn't even teach me that very day, and that was the last time he ever played Ludo with me, as he found out I was a pro but just going easy on him in the past, so thereafter, anytime I went to his play after that incident, it was always straight to tutoring without any jokes or game play.

Another board game I enjoyed playing and watching, even though I'm not good at it, is the Ayo game. It's relative to Africa, or mostly Nigeria, and it's played on an object called an opon (board). It has several small balls that are moved around the many spaces on the board. I'd like to learn more about it. and above is a photo of the Ayo board game.

That's all about my experience with a board game and my favorite memories of playing it. The write-up was inspired by the weekend experience community writing prompt, hosted by @galenkp. You can read through his post here to get more information.
