My Experience as an applicant in a Nigeria Organisation || Ridiculous Expectations from employees for a petty monthly Salary

The demand and expectations of some organisation from their employees is rediculous and yet they pay them petty salary in return for several ours of work, and if they fail to meet up with Some of the target for the month, it'll be deducted from their salary 😳.

some weeks ago I was feeling bored and decided to apply for a job to while away the time, that's how I got an invitation to come for an interview yesterday🤣.

I hope y'all won't crucify for how I carried my self at the firm, I wasn't in need of the job, I just went to have fun and understanding what what people are going through just to make ends meet.

Naso I reach there, all applicants dress corporately, you need to see them🤣, but me I wore a native attire with Agbada and cap(Monday morning o).

On entering the officer space, all applicants and some employees stood up to greet me welcome sir, good morning sir, how can we help you sir, that's because they felt I'm an investor or a business for dressing like that.

I was just laughing inwardly, then one of the employee took me to the manager's office, only for him to find out I came for the interview.

He was visibly angry, and demanded why I didn't tell his subordinates that I cane for an interview, of which I explained to him that, they never allow me alter a word before directing me to him., He then ask why I was not dressing corporately, I had to lecture him that I'm corporately dressed in an African way.

I was later directed to sit with other applicant, and when it got to my turn to be interviewed, they started pointing out my mistakes, like how I dress, how I was abbreviating in a formal letter, and how I fumbled the address.

I apologize even though it was intention, then we proceed with the interview, and here are some of their rediculous expectations they are demanding from a CREDIT OFFICER, since that was the position I applied for;

  • Work Duration: 8am - 7pm

  • Work Days: Monday - Friday

  • Salary: 40,000 ($96) monthly

  • Walking around the street for nothing less than 8hours, look for client and collecting refund from those who've took a loan from you.

  • Target: must look for at least 20 client per month, with a total of nothing less than 1 million naira outgoing loan per month.

  • will still be the one to do follow up for the refunding of the loan given out, on a daily basis.

  • If any of those who took a loan from you fail to pay back, the the amount will be deducted from your salary. And if they amount is beyond your salary, then both you and your guarantors will have to pay back or be thrown into jail untill you payback.

  • No pension plan, even though it was stated in the circular that there's.

  • No health insurance

  • You must work overtime of need be, and there won't be compensation for it.

I got to know all this because, I ask about almost every terms and conditions.

And after the explanation, I was ask if I can do the job, I said yes☺️, then they ask to do a practical of how I'll handle a client who took a loan and refuses to pay back. One of the interviewer volunteer to act as the clients.

I stood up and walk up to him and demanded that he pay me back the fund he loan, as stated in our agreement, he knew down and plead with me that he as no money, because his market as not been moving fine(he seems to have experience how people react when it comes to paying back their loan🤔), I told him am sorry I about his business, but I need my fund, he got annoyed that am not considerate and angrily left me.

We went back to the desk, and I was told I failed woefully in the practical, stating that I'm too gentle and if I reacted like that to all clients, then I won't survive a month in the job. I ask for a second chance in the practical, of which they obliged.

In the second practical, the person playing the role of the clients, stated acting up again, I pick up by the collar of his shirt and gave him two dirty slap 🤣, he started pleading and said the slap wasn't necessary but they've seen that I've an angry side, so I'll surely be among the new recruit.

I smile devilishly and thank them for the opportunity, getting outside the office, I saw other applicants who are waiting to be interview and those that have been interviewed, some were excited, while some were lost in thought(probably thinking if they are upto the task of meeting up with the high demand of the firm).

I wish I could approach them to preach the gospel of hive, and how they don't have to go through all those stress and anxiety disorders just to make ends meet (well i didn't because some of the firm staff were there). I'll probably apply for other job opening in other firm and hopefully preach the gospel of hive to the applicant.

I left the premises, and few hours later I've got a Congratulations message on my employment and the need to start training this morning, I didn't attend the training, and was called to know why, of which i responded that something beyond me that I ought to attend to came up, but am sure they got the actual message I'm trying to pass.

With this Experience, I begin to wonder what graduate pass through just to make ends meet, I've been there before some years ago, when the demand was getting beyond my capacity, I left and focus on expanding my knowledge in the craft I learn, and ever since then, I've no cause to regret, and meeting hive as even made my life easier and grant me financial security.

Thanks for checking out my post, I'll love to say a shout-out to all women, as we celebrate them for all they've done in making the world a better place, happy international women's Day to y'all.

Greetings from: @vickoly
