My Encounter with a prophetic Thief

A few hours ago, I was reminiscing on some of the funny experiences I've had in the church in the past few years, and I couldn't help but laugh at some of the hilarious memories that came to mind. It's worthy of note that this isn't aimed at mocking any religion, as I'm a Christian myself, so it's more of a channel for sharing my funny experience and hoping it'll put a smile on your faces as we begin a new week. So without further ado, let's dive into the experience of the prophetic thief.

The prophetic thief: this was about 8 years ago, during my undergraduate days. I was a worker in the church, and I'm functional in the ushering and drama departments. On one of those occasions, we were having an open-air crusader in a neighborhood. If you're a Nigerian or familiar with how such services went, then you'll know deliverance service always comes up, and such usually involves people falling under anointing and the like.   On this very day, while the prayer and deliverance section was going on, I was a usher in the church and moved around the church so I could quickly intervene in helping anyone who fell under the anointing. So they won't injure themselves in the process. I seriously wish I stayed back that day because I never knew some people do fake falling under the anointing just so they can steal from anyone who tried to help them during that period.   So apparently this particular guy was under the anointing, and I rushed towards him, and his case was unusual and was probably the first time I've seen a guy fall under the anointing for that long. While I was trying to safe guard his movements, he was literally all over me, and I thought it's just due to the anointing; it was unknown to me that he was doing something else under ground.   At the end of the prayer, he seems to have come back to normal and thanked me, and then he prayed, or, should I say, prophecied to me as he proceeded back to his seat. In his words, he said, Thanks so much, bro; I really appreciate it. You're going to go far; you'll walk; you'll go to places; and you'll journey far in life. I was perplexed by the prayers because it was the first time someone I helped during such occasions prayed for me.   Fast forward to after the crusade that day. As a usher, I had to stay back and count the offerings, give them to the church treasurer, and make sure all of the chairs and equipment were safe and in order before I left for the house. By the time all of those were completed, reality was drawn to me when I walked toward the main road and tried to stop a bike to convey me home, and that's when I realized what had happened.   Apparently the prophetic guy from earlier was a pickpocket, and he only made those prophecies to mock me about what would happen to me pretty soon. When I realized the situation I was in, I didn't even know if I should laugh or cry at myself for saying amen to his declaration. Here I'm with an empty pocket; both my phone and all the cash I've had on me had disappeared, and I had to tell the bike man not to worry, and I began my trekk-a-thon mission homeward.   And just like his prophecy, indeed, I walked; I went far and went to places in my bid to just look for short cuts that'll easily make me arrive home on time.   That was a painful yet funny experience that got me laughing as I reminisced about it today. I hope you enjoyed the read and found it interesting.
