Market Friday Sphere Experience

Hello everyone, and happy Friday to y'all. I'm excited because it's Friday, and that means I can finally get some relaxation after a stressful week at work. Fortunately, there's also a public holiday this coming Monday to celebrate our country's 63rd year of independence. Aside from all of this, I paid a visit to the market to purchase some plastic items because the rain this year seems enormous compared to what we've ever experienced.  IMG_20230716_121034.jpg   It's strange how it still rains heavily and on a daily basis, even though we're already in September. These may lead to flooding in some areas, and I'm just fortunate such isn't the case here; otherwise, I'll also be a victim of the flood. Well, to the focal point of why I went to the market, the constant rain made the power distribution companies not give us electricity often, which meant being unable to pump water. Instead of walking a long distance in search of water, I've decided to just buy some plastic to use to gather rainwater and reserve it.

Arriving at the place where these plastic buckets are being sold, I was amazed at how expensive they're, and that left me no choice but to resorted to buying used paint buckets, which I'll just need to thoroughly wash and clean before using them to reserve my water. Since the waters I'm reserving are mainly for washing and bathing, I won't really be at much risk, as I'm used to drinking sachet water.   IMG_20230930_001954.jpg

The used paint buckets are sold at 1500 naira each, and that's much better, bigger, and has a bigger space than the new ones that are smaller, and the sellers are requesting 3000 naira. In such a situation, one needs to work smart, or else we'll be buying things at a ridiculous rate.

After getting the bucket, I also needed to buy some socks so I could wear them more often to reduce the rate at which the cold weather enters my body. My hands and legs have been open, and I guess that's one of the reasons why I've been down with illness lately, so I bought two pieces of socks for this shoe for just 400 naira each.   IMG_20230716_120224.jpg

That's all on my shopping sphere at the market here in the town of Lagos State, Nigeria. I'll love to appreciate @dswigle for this amazing community that grants us the opportunity to share our markets, experiences, purchases, and traditions and to also learn about other people's cultures and ways of life in the Market Friday community.

NOTE: ALL PHOTOS ARE MINE.   Have a productive day ahead, and stay blessed.
