MARKET FRIDAY GOES TO A SHOEMAKER STORE || REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD PATRONISE LOCAL STORE OVER BOUTIQUE

Since I grew up to the stage where I got to decide which path I want to thread as a profession that'll be a source of income to me, I've wander around learning several craft and worked in various fields, before I resort into shoemaking 4 years ago, and despite that I didn't take it up serious as a profession until late 2020.

Ever since I permanently switch to shoemaking, I've find comfort in it, though I know I am a wanderer and tend to lose interest in something within a tickle of an eye, and that's why I Marged the craft with other business/means of income like charcoal and per-time teaching, should in case such wandering spirit comes up again. 18F7FE22-0E98-4028-B024-A13E8273B148L0001.jpeg

Some today I'll love to take you through some of my crafted collections over the years and make a price comparison between a local shoemaker store like mine and price of Footwear's in a boutique/online retails store.

PRICE AND QUALITY COMPARISON BETWEEN A LOCAL STORE AND A ONLINE RETAIL STORE/BOUTIQUE

  • One of the importance of patronise local store over online store is that, you'll get to have the exact quality of material your request for, unlike an online store where they could deliver a substandard material to you and then it'll take days or week to return and get another.

here are some screenshots of review left by some people who purchase Footwear's online.
This is not so for a local store because, even if you have issues with the footwear you brought, they can easily amend it for you before you left their store, while online store may not take back sometime you've use.

  • Price of Footwear's are relatively cheap in a local store compare to boutique, Below are some price comparison of my crafted footwear compare to those sold online;

I made this particular shoe for myself, and when I'm making it for a client, the Highest I've charge is 8000 naira, with is relatively cheaper than 11,800 naira the boutique sale theirs.

Most of my crafted half shoes are sold at 6000 naira, but the particular one I use above cost 8000 naira due to the Quality material used, and yet it's still cheaper than the price boutique and online store sold theirs 16,00 naira, and you'll still pay shipping fee.

**Women Slippers**

The highest I've ever charge for women slippers is 3000 naira, unlike the 8,500 naira being charged some slippers online, while for men slippers I do charge from 5000 naira downward, but charge the client 4000 naira when I made the one above, unlike the boutique who charge 6,500 naira.

The one I saw whose price were almost the same as we do charge locally is the one with brikenstock sole, they charge around 6,300 and I do charge between 5,500 and 6,000 naira, due to the Quality of the sole.

  • Patronising local store will help grow their business and place them on the limelight

When we patronise local store/shoemaker like me, then you're helping such individual business grow, and the more you purchase and recommend to your friends, the more such business will be on the limelight and might someday be placed alongside brand like Puma and Nike, and when such happens, you'll be glad you've could be of help one way or another, and surely such business owner won't forget how much help you were to him/her.

Those are my few reasons and market tips I've shared with you, so you can know and choice wisely next time you want to purchase shoes, I hope you were able to grab one of two among it?

And talking about thee different craft I've learnt over the years like I stated in the first paragraph of this article, I've learn tailoring and worked in the field for around 5years and would have still been in the field till now, but something terrible happen and ever since then I've had a kind of phobia or let just say I don't know the right term go use, but the bottom line is that I usually lose focus whenever want to sew, I also learn event decoration, but i never took that as a profession at any point in time, though I sometimes work as an assistant in helping friends who took it as a profession design events center, altars and the like, other professions are bricklaying and graphic designer.

Apprieaction to @dswigle for setting up such an amazing Community in #marketfriday, that as given us to previlege to learn about other people's culture and tradition as regarding to market, and as well share ours.
