Good day, creative minds of the NeedleworkMonday community! It's another Monday, and I am excited to be back here sharing some of my recent shoemaking projects. I hope this meets you well. Today I'll be taking you through how I made these Birkenstock palm slippers for a friend who requested I make one for her after seeing some of my projects here on Hive.

This is a drop-cross strap kind of Birkenstock palm slipper that's different from the regular ones we've got around, but I've made a few of these types and shared them here on the blockchain, so I guess that's where the hive user saw it and decided I should make one for her and her son. Without further ado, let's look into the making of the double-cross strap Birkenstock palm slippers.

MAKING PROCESSES
First step in making footwear after getting the actual foot size of your customer is the cutting of the leather into the accurate shape, so I did that for both the tan colour leather and the black leather lining and join both with the gum.
Once that was achieved and perfect, I began sewing around the leather for the upper with my sewing machine and thread.

Immediately after that I had to cross-check it fitness and length on the sole with a wooden shoe last to ascertain if I've gotten the right shape.

The next thing on my agenda when the upper as been deemed perfect was to punch some holes on the leather and attach the buckle on each part of the strap of the upper, after attaching, I recheck the shape again on the sole.

The last phrase of making the double-cross strap Birkenstock was applying gum to the insole and the sole before lasing both together.
