The quote life is a journey is a common phrase been said since my childhood days, and aside being used in speeches, it's said by pastor's during sermon and musicians also sang about how life is a journey, this lead me into beginning to wonder **if life is truly a journey, where is then our home?**π€
It as never been one of my favourite quotes, but it usually got me wondering each time I heard it, and my conclusion each time I think about it is that truly life is a journey, although I must confess, It doesn't really go well with me because, if we agree that life is a journey, that mean we know it'll surely come to an end someday, and coming to an end means deathπ, obviously nobody wants to die, but we all desire heaven. So why did I agree with the quote? Check out the following;
-
Do we have a permanent home address?
One of the things I realized is that we don't really have a permanent home address here on earth, we most time left the places we called our home at one point or another, by moving to a better or new place where we now called our home address.
I for example in my 30years of existence, I've live in over 10places(in 5 different state within Nigeria) and each of those places were registered as my permanent home address while I was there, and even the present one I reside in will someday stop being my home address, because I aspire to move to better places and Europe in the nearest future.
Am certain if you were to list the places you've stayed, some people might lose count base on how many places they've reside.
- We've seen tenants left their rented apartment to their own house or to another rented apartment.
- We've seen house owners left their old duplex to their newly constructed mansion.(which will soon get out of trend and the demand to move again will pop up).
So this lead me to understand that;
we are all pilgrim/explorers in the world
That's, we're only visiting as we proceed in our life journey, like I said earlier; I've had over 10 different home addresses (4 in Lagos, 3 in Kwara, 3 in Ogun, 2 in Kano and 1 in Yobe). And yet there are high possibilities that I'll still have more.
This thereby confirm the quote, because;
- at a time you we entering the secondary(high) school and before your knew it, you're graduating from there, 6years down the drain(so fast right).
- then you gain admission into the university(college), and you started struggling with different course and within the blink of an eye, one day you'll realise you're graduating and celebrating your convocation.
- At a point you went to the altar with the love of your life and said yes I do, and now the kids are running around you saying grandma/grandpa. And you just can't fathom how time flies to that point.
So with this few point I believe
When we understand and admit that of a truth, life is indeed a journey, and you a meer visitor, then it will help us value times and situations that happens to us presently, it'll help us not to take the little things for granted.
Am certain, if each and every one of us is given the previlege to turn back the hands of Time, it's for sure we'll have a lot to correct in our past.
Well since that's not possible, because yesterday is gone and can't be altered, let live our today(present) in a way whereby our future self will be proud of the decision we made today.
Where then is our home?
We are people of different race, beliefs and tradition, so our Believe of the afterlife might differ, my religion beliefs there is heaven(where people who believe in Christ and live a good life will be) and hell (where the unbelievers and bad people will be) after death.
What is your take on life being a journey and the afterlife?
THANKS FOR CHECKING OUT MY POST,HAVE A BLESSED DAY AHEAD.
