I Harvested More Maize At My Farmland

##

HELLO HIVE

Once again today i visited my maize farm to harvest more maize for the consumption of I and my family, and this is one of the reasons why I always invest my time and effort into farming, because at the end of the day, it'll serve as a life saver that make my family self sufficient in the area of our basic need, which is food.

I could remember during my young age, while growing when I stayed with my grandparents, they usually indulge in the act of planting different crops, and each time the do such, the make sure to take I and under kids along, so we'll learn several lessons on the the various methods of planting, which soil is good for a particular crop and much more.

Now I'm grateful for those lessons, I learnt from them freely, even though those days, I don't felt like I'm being punished, because while my pairs groups were playing, I'll be in the farm with them, either planting, weeding or harvesting various crop.

But now, what I saw as a punishment then, is now a lifesaver, that as been sustaining my family over the years, there are days when there won't be adequate income from my Shoemaking business, and the salary from my per-time teaching is been delayed.

In such situation, I've seen my friends whom we're into same business, run into debt by borrowing to sustain their family, but I on the other hand, usually run back to my farm to see with of the crop I can harvest to meet our needs pending the time I get my salary.

And one of such scenario was today, when I had little amount of cash with me, since I don't want to because of this need, panic and sell my hive at a cheap price, I decided to harvest some of my maize, and after harvesting and boiling it, that was what we all had as breakfast today. Aside the boiled one, we also peel of some large quality of maize, which we'll be using as ogi( I food made from maize), and like you can see it as been suck in water, once it became soft, it'll be grinded and filter to remove the chaft,. You can go through @nkemakonam89 recipe post to know how the Ogi is been prepared. IMG_20220720_122629.jpg

And here is another view of the farm, this photo capture the part that as been harvested, and you can see the steam is already getting dry in that parts.

Engaging in homesteading in a skill and knowledge everyone should acquire, no matter our financial status, because there surely be some basic necessities that we need to be done in the house, so when you have should knowledge, you would need to spend on necessary money in paying someone else to help you fix such.

On my parts, I'll make sure to equip my future children everything they need to know about farming and other basic thing we can do as an homesteader.

I began work on the Maize farm few months back to join @felixxx maize Challenge.

Thanks for checking out my blog post, have a great day.
