HELLO HIVE
In today's post I'll love to share with y'all in detail about how I make this gorgeous Interwoven Cord leather slippers, also I'll be sharing some few tips on how to achieve a perfect and standard shoe.
PROCESS
The first thing I did into achieve this slippers is to get the foot size of the clients.
After which I cut out all the parts of the slipper, which includes; upper, last, linning, insole and sole.
After getting cutting of the materials, I started sewing all the tiny cords that made up the upper of the slippers, then I sew both edges so it'll all stick together and won't remove easily during usage.
Immediately that was achieved, I grease the linning and the insole with gum, and then glue both together.
I apply the upper to the insole, and tested it with a shoe last so as to ascertain if the the upper is perfect, too tight or too free, so I can easily adjust it to fit the foot pattern of the clients.
I also apply gum on the sole and let it dry alittle, while I was adjust the upper of the slippers.
I join both the sole and the insole together, and apply finishing gum so as to have a smooth and perfect edges, and here is how Interwoven Cord leather slippers looks after everything as been done.
TIPS ON HOW TO ACHIEVE A PERFECT AND STANDARD SHOE FOR BEGINNERS
The following are few tips that will greatly help and improve the works of beginners in shoe making.
- PATTERN DRAFTING
It's advisable to first draft out a pattern of the shoe you want to make with either cardboard or tick papers.
This is will help avoid any mistake or error will cutting the real material, then once you've gotten the perfect shape, you can then place your pattern on the material.
- MARK YOUR CENTER POINT
This very important so as not to have a shoe that's shifted to one side than the other.
It's also make it easy to know the exact point to place the buckle.
So whenever you're drafting your pattern or material, make your you ponch a center point.
- GRINDING/FILLING OF SOLE AND INSOLE
This is one of the most important aspect of Shoemaking so that the shoes you made will now only be Beautiful, but also last longer.
Bringing/filling the sole and insole help to make the smooth inner of the soles rough, so that when you apply gum and join them together, it'll stick together perfectly and last longer.
If you didn't grind it with the filling machine and you apply the gum on both smooth part, that mean it'll be very slick, and will open again after few weeks of usage.
- BE A CREATIVE/CRITICAL THINKER
Since Shoemaking as to do with crafting, it's of high important that you're a creative thinker, Because for you to stand out among your pairs in the craft, then your inventory must stand out.
And you should be a critical thinker because some clients/customers might come and only explain what they want with their mouth without giving you a pictorial sample, so it takes a critical thinker to comprehend and understand what the client want.
