Good day, friends on the hive blockchain. I hope you're well. This Saturday was exciting for my friend, my colleagues, and me as one of us tied the knot with the love of her life in holy matrimony. It's an amazing sight to witness, and I'm super happy for the new couple, who just began their journey as a couple. As she's one of my closest friends at my workplace, I decided to travel down to the location of the wedding to honor her alongside other colleagues of ours. Although the wedding venue was far from our workplace and where I reside, in order to honor her, we decided to hire a vehicle to covey us to the location, and it was around a 3-hour journey from our location to the destination. By the time we arrived at the location, they'd already concluded engagement services and were about to begin the church program, so we were still very much on time and didn't miss much. The church program began with praise and worship songs by the choir, which we all danced to; the opening prayers; several others; and then the father of the bride walked his beautiful daughter to the altar so the wedding proper could proceed. The pastor led different items, and then vows were shared between the couple to mark their affection for each other.
Unlike most modern weddings, where rings were used as a symbol of their union and vow, and theirs, the Holy Bible was the only symbol of their union, and I love it, even though having a wedding ring is also cool, but then, it's understandable that it's the doctrine of their church and they can decide to get a ring later on. Overall, it was an exciting and fun wedding, and I enjoyed myself a lot. One reason why I love this wedding is because there weren't many guesses, and that kind of makes the room much more conducive, unlike most other ones I attend that are usually choked up. I also love the fact that the wedding was simple and didn't consume much time; all the church services were conducted within 1 hour and 30 minutes.
After the church program, we moved to the reception, where there would be more dancing, snapping of pictures, eating, and enjoying the moment with the latest couple in town. There were different varieties of food to choose from, from amala to semo and pounded yam; those were the local delicates available alongside soup like ewedu, vegetables, and then moi moi and plantains. For the continental dishes, we had foods like jollof rice, fried rice, yam mashed, plantains, and several others. I actually went for the swallow and ate semo and vegetable soup, and then pushed that down with a bottle of cold Pepsi.
Overall, we all had a great time, celebrated our friend and colleague, delivered our gift, took some pictures, and that's when we also decided to celebrate one of us whose birthday also falls on the same day, but in order to honor the new couple, she traveled down with us. Below is a picture of me with the birthday celebrant.
After most of the programs were concluded, we all boarded the vehicle and began our journey homeward. I really had a great time and wish the new family all the best in their union, although the wedding ceremony was an avenue for my colleagues to remind me that I'm now the only single worker in our workplace and I should be serious with my own wedding plans, which I just smiled at and told them I'd heard. That's all about the wedding ceremony for today. I hope you enjoyed the read. Thanks so much for your time. Have a wonderful day ahead.
