Reality shows are probably one of the most exciting programs aired on TV. They serve as a source of entertainment for the audience and an avenue for telecommunication services to gain an audience via those mind-blowing activities, which in the long run bring about sponsors and ads that earn them something in return. But despite how delightful these programs are, it's quite ridiculous to watch some shows that are aired on TV because of the little or no significance that they have for the audience and community at large.
Over the years, I've been privileged to watch some inspiring shows and programs that have gone a long way to leaving a lasting impression and impact on me and everyone who watches them, programs such as the spelling bee, cow bell mathematics competition, Ribina shows, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, and many more, and each of these has brooded my knowledge and impacted me in several ways to become a better version of myself.
Unfortunately, despite how awesome some of these shows are on TV, there are some that were just inducted a few years ago that I see as meaningless, have no moral values, add no value to those watching, and yet receive so much sponsorship and prize money that goes to the winner. It's so ridiculous to watch reality TV shows like Big Brother giving winners prizes that are worth ₦50 million and above for just sitting within a house and doing immoral or meaningless games.
Such a program is one I see as being unfair to other talent elevating shows, educative ones, and much more. You can imagine that educative shows such as Cowbell Mathematics Competition only give its winners ₦250,000. It's so lame in my opinion because these children are meant to answer tedious mathematical questions within seconds, and yet they get peanuts for that, and yet sponsors give out millions, cars, and other prizes to winners of BBN while these children that do these brain-cracking tasks are forgotten after that.
So basically, in my opinion, I think reality TV shows such as Big Brother Nigeria (BBN) should be scrapped from being aired on TV because they add no significant value to those who watch them, arouse a need to amaze wealth in a lazy way, and promote immorality because most of the activities the participants indulge in are far from decency, which means talented people in Nigeria have talent, project fame, and others who have a lot to offer the community at large are less appreciated.
That's about all on my list of some reality shows that should be scrapped from being aired on TV because I felt that they add no good value to their audience, and instead of sponsoring lame shows like that, those funds can be channeled to life-changing reality shows that add value to the audience and community at large, and it was inspired by topic suggestions during the last hangout on Saturday.
