Life, they say, is full of lessons, and personally, when I hear the common saying that no man is an island of knowledge, what comes to mind is that the world and life itself are islands of knowledge and lessons because a lot of people have passed through them and each one has undergone different phrases in their lives that taught them one life lesson or another. I'm no different; in fact, my life is a testament to life lessons, and their knowledge has molded who I am today.

I've gone through different phases in this short life, and those phases have taught me huge lessons that are vital to my growth. I've had to go through having all I can dream of, so I went through the phrase of losing it all. I also went through a phase where I picked myself up from the mud, and those phrases taught me a lot, of which I'll share some with you today.
Like I said earlier, I've gone through ups and downs in life, but one vital life lesson I learned from those periods was that my dreams are valid and that the universe is listening to all our heart desires with the aim of bringing them to reality if we can strive towards what we wish for. There is a personal story that led to this conviction, and it's what I'll be sharing below.
A few years ago, I was working at an organization, and though I was not receiving the best of wages, it was enough to cater for my needs and those of my immediate family. I even bought land and was building a house on it until life happened. My younger brother fell sick to the point of being bedridden for over a year. That situation dashed my dreams and plans, even leaving me jobless and penniless because I had to quit my job to stand by him. I also had to sell most of my assets, including the land and the ongoing building.
After a year, when he was discharged from the hospital and in a better health condition, when we got home, there was hardly anything to fall back on, as I had no job or any means of earning. I had to use one of the skills I acquired in the past to start doing some crafts to sustain us. There and then, in that situation, I had a heart desire and wished that I could at least get a job that paid me nothing less than 120 thousand naira. Yeah, I know that seems small to many, but I didn't earn up to half of that in my previous job, so I guess that's why I wished for that.

Not long after my outcry for that, I was invited to hive by Monica-ene, someone I didn't know from Adam, and although in my early days on hive I don't really earn much, a few months ago I did a calculation of what I earn on Hive per month and converted it to our local currency, and I was surprised at how much it was. I realize I'm earning nothing less than 180 thousand naira only from Hive on a monthly basis.
That was way higher than what I wished for, and aside from the fact that I got a better job offline along the way, which means I've got multiple streams of income, this realization made me fall down on my knees to thank God for answering my prayers because, I must confess, I even grumbled before that realization, but after that I was dumbfounded and learned a lesson to always be positive with my words and everything I wished for because life will bring it my way.
It's worthy of note that having a heart's desire alone is not enough to bring your dream to reality; one needs to personally work for it, putting in relentless effort to bring such a dream to reality. My stand on the hive today doesn't come by magic; it's a testament to the support I got and my dedication and commitment to growth and development, so take note of that even if you want to use my life lesson as a yardstick to groom yours.
Thanks so much for your time. The write-up was inspired by the hive Ghana community writing prompt; you can get more information about it here.
