It's the festive season, and as we all know, there will be a lot of shopping and purchasing of items, so just like everyone else, I paid a visit to the market, but not with the aim of buying food items or attire, but to buy as much footwear-making material as possible that will meet the demands of my customers and as well as have extra in case an impromptu order shows up.
Every festive season I usually have loads of footwear orders to work on, and this usually keeps me occupied during Christmas, but since I got my new job, my older apprentice and a young guy I employed have been the ones running the affairs of the store. But when I traveled home to celebrate Christmas, I decided to stop by the store and help them out, and that's why I help them with shopping for materials.
When I got to the shoe material market, the place was filled up with different shoemakers who wanted to purchase different items. I brought out my list and started picking each one out gradually, and here are some of the things I purchased and their prices.
- 6 foreign sole ₦12,000
- 2 Birkenstock sole ₦4,600
- 3 pairs of Brown leather ₦1,800
- 3 pair of Black Leather ₦1,800
- 2 bottle of Oci gum ₦2000
- 4 Shoe wet ₦800
- 2 Super glue ₦1000
- 4 pairs of Nora ₦2000
- 4 pairs of Marco ₦1600
- Total ₦27,600
Here are some of the pictures of the items I got at the market. I couldn't take many pictures at the store, but when I got to my store, I took more pictures of the items I purchased, like the ones in these pictures.
The price of items was high as expected, or should I say as it usually is during the festive season, but then I was aware it would be so, which made me go with extra funds in order not to change my list due to lack of funds, but then I was lucky to get some items at a cheap price compared to what they had been sold at before, so that kind of made my spending even.
That's about all I can say about my experience at the market and the price of each item. Above is one of the pairs of footwear we already made from the materials I purchased at the market a few days ago, and I did share the DIY process of the making process several hours ago.
While on my way home inside the tricycle, I saw a roadside fruit seller during some of our store hours. In the traffic, I decided to buy a pack of fruit salad from her. The fruit salad comprises of watermelon, pineapple, and cucumber, which I'm presently eating as I write this post.
As I bring an end to this write-up, I'd like to thank and appreciate @dswigle for her efforts in constantly keeping and encouraging market traditions through the Market Friday community, which usually gives us an opportunity to see various people's market experiences and traditions.
Thanks for reading through my blog post, have a blessed and productive day ahead.
