Good day, everyone! It's been awhile since I last showcased my shoemaking craft, and I guess that's due to my new job's tight schedule, but I'm doing it once in awhile. A few months ago, a fellow hiver based in Europe who had seen some of my shoe catalog shared here on hive contacted me to help make some footwear, which comprises some Birkenstocks and sandals, so today I'll take you through how I made one of the Birkenstock palms.

Birkenstock is a common palm slipper we wear here in Nigeria, and I didn't know it was also used in Europe until the person contacted me and shared with me some samples of the one she used, so after reaching an agreement, I set out to work, and although I completed these projects over a month ago, I was skeptical about whether she'd like them or not, and when finally the shoes arrived in Europe and I got a positive review, I decided to blog about it.
So without further ado, let's dive into knowing the equipment and materials used in making these Birkenstocks and the making processes.

Making processes
To make a Birkenstock or any footwear, the upper is always important and must be cut with perfection, because it's what determines the beauty of the footwear, so here I first cut the black leather and then spread gum on my black lining, that I joined the cut black leather to in order to have a good surface on both side.

After that I took the upper to my sewing machine and sea around it with the black thread, I also attached the bucket to the strap of the upper, so it can be adjustable.
I also punch a hole with my puncher in front of the upper, to put the eyelets design through it.

When that was achieved, I move to the sole and the insole, first I punch a hole on the front of the Birkenstock insole, where the front strap will past through, then I added some gum to the edges and the back of the soles.
When it was abit dry, I did the lasing, that joining of the upper to the sole and added some super glue to make it firm.

This is the final product of the Birkenstock palm slippers, and like I said, the hive customer I made it for loves it.
