Yesterday I decided to pay my cashews farm a visit, based on how the Cashew tree i have at my backyard garden is glowing with ripe cashews fruits.
Sighting my farm from afar, my heart was filled with joy, because most of the cashews tree's was filled with reddish and ripe cashews, which was unlike my last visit to the farm , then though the tree was glowing with alot of Cashews but most of it was not ripe.
Though about 60% of the Cashew trees in my farm are yet to start producing fruit, while some have, but their fruit are still very small, that's the beauty of it, because that mean there'll be continuous harvest🤗.
It will interest you to know that, most of we cashews farmers here, earn mostly via the sales of the cashews nut, than we earn via the sales of the cashews fruit itself.
The Cashew tree is well loaded as Many resources are derived from the nut like; Cashew nutshell liquid, cashew nuts(like groundnut), Cashew nut oil etc to mention but few, unlike the cashew fruit which is also good, but can get spoilt in couple of days if not eating, sold or properly preserved. It's not advisable to consume much Cashews as it can cause swelling of joint, bloating and weight gain, but when consume moderately it's a good nutrients in our diet, they are natural source of protein, healthy fats and other vitamins. The tree, leaves and co also serve as a natural herbal medicine which I'll be sharing in my subsequent post.
Not to bore you with my Cashews lecture, with the good news of what I saw, I set some things in place at the farm, and head home to prepare for the Harvesting, by hiring labourers, getting the needed and necessary materials and tools.
Now that I've partner with THE UNITED STATE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE(USDA) WEST AFRICA PRO CASHEW PROJECT, I'm certain this year Harvest will be more profitable and easier than that of the previous harvest, base on the knowledge I've acquired, the grant and modern farming machine I've received.
Thanks for checking out my blog post, have a bless and productive day ahead.
