The advent of the removal of the fuel subsidy has led to inflation that has crumbled the economy of the nation, and this has put the citizens in pain and caused their inability to lead a befitting life given the hike in the price of every good and service. One of the measures put in place by the government to curb the effect of inflation was the dispatching of palliatives to the citizens. Unfortunately, the people in charge of the distribution aren't letting this get to the average citizen.
It's disheartening because I don't understand why you'll decide to hold onto what's meant to go around for the average citizen when you can give it to them to at least survive for the time being. Even if we'll complain that it wasn't enough and the like, this isn't the first time in a situation such as this where palliative was given out to community leaders to disburse to the communists, but at the end of the day they either sell it, turn it into personal use, or just keep it in a warehouse.
The ones given during the COVID stay at home went in the same direction until citizens by themselves started breaking into these warehouses to loot what ought to be theirs, and by the time most of this palliative, like food items, was brought out, most were already in a bad state and inedible again.
It's just annoying, and I can't help but react to the irregularities. I believe that everyone is affected by the current situation, and the government should have disbursed the palliative to all staff of theirs rather than just the lower-ranking staff. I don't think it's fair to say that because those high-ranking staff earn more, then they don't deserve an intervention too, but then I've got my reservations about the higher-ranking staff too, and they're stated below. https://twitter.com/Akmediaconcept/status/1319280295695142916?t=V12LPpS8IvrCq_sAMLNnOQ&s=19 from 2020, don't know if they want such to repeat itself before they start doing the needful.
For the ongoing palliative distribution, it was meant to be distributed to citizens and then to civil servants who are between levels 1 and 10, but unfortunately, by the time this arrives at the point of distribution, those in higher levels disagree and insist they must get a part of the palliative. While I'm not too annoyed about that, I'm just angry because most times when something is meant to be distributed between those of higher levels in the civil service, those in those ranks usually refuse to share it with us, the lower-ranking staff. All they say is that we should also work harder to attain that height, so why share what isn't meant for you if you're not willing to share yours?
And that's about that; there are hardly any citizens who have laid their hands on the palliative, except they're close in charge of the distribution. Such shouldn't be the case; unfortunately, many are heartless in this country, and while we blame the government, we citizens and those given a little privilege to do something are all evil and only care about themselves. The nation, I believe, will only get worse if such a thing continues. Well personally, I stood my ground with the higher-ranking staff at my place of work, telling them I must take the accurate quality of palliative meant for me and won't be sharing a dime with them. While they try to insult or say things, I only remind them of times when things were issued to them, and they never for once ask us, the lower-ranking staff, to tag among their lot. I might be seen as the bad egg here in the office, but then I think I care less and would just be me until everyone acts appropriately, and not only when things don't favor them, is when they'll start trying to be logical, which they failed to be prior to such.
