AMBITION TO BECOME AN HAIR STYLIST THAT NEVER CAME TO REALITY

Has a child I've had several ambition and desire to become a renounce personnel in different fields at one point in time or another, ranging from pilot, to engineer and fashion designer, but the one that seems to stand tall above every other ambition is the desire to become an hair stylist.

So while going through the #WE93 #weekend Community posting topic by @galenkp , I realize I connect more with this question;

As children we all had ambitions to be and do certain things as adults. Do you remember yours? (I wanted to be a fireman). Tell us about what you wanted to be when you grew up, and why. Did you attain your goal and if not why not? If you managed to achieve your desired result, what did you do to make it happen and how did you stay on track.

So I decided I'll be sharing my ordeals right from childhood, as per;

  • What I wanted to become.
  • What were the challenges I faced.
  • If I were able to make my childhood desire a reality, and the likes.

WHAT WAS MY DREAM PROFESSION AS A CHILD?

When I was just a little boy I asked my mother, what will I be Will I be happy, will I be rich Here's what she said to me. Qué Sera Sera --Doris Day

Like I said earlier I've had several ambition, but the number one of them all was to become an hair stylist, l was so passionate about this profession to the point where anytime I return from school and finish with the house chores, I usually sneak into the shop of an hair stylist that is located in our compound then.

WHAT WERE THE CHALLENGES I FACED?

And due to my sneaky attributes of always finding my way into the store, I got chastised, and when there seems to be no stopping of my going into the store, the person who happen to be my guidance ask me, what do you want to become when you grow up, I could remember my answers were firm and straightforward, *I want to be an hair dresser was my reply. that's how we address female hair stylist here.

And right from the moment I told him of my ambition, I knew within me that, I might never become one, because he and other elders around at that moment spoke words that discourage me into diving into that profession, and one of their major reason was that it's women related job and field, so it'll be hard for me to excel in that field

Those words and the consistent monitoring of not going into the store kills my passion for hair styling gradually.

WAS I ABLE TO MAKE MY CHILDHOOD DREAM A REALITY?

Well obviously like I said above, I was unable to follow my dream, I grew up and then fell in love with computer related gadget and anything that as to do with fashion, so I gain admission to study the course of my desire then, which is computer science, but then my country find it was of killing my passion this time around, am sure you wanted to ask how right!😉, how is that;

  • On gaining admission into the higher Institution, we were taught everything theoretically, from programming language to Pascal, BASIC and co, now you see, imagine how hard it'll be to comprehend being taught something in theory and never get the opportunity to do practicals.
  • Another reason is because I ended up, spending 6 years for a course that ought to take 4 years due to continuous strike.

And all this strike lead me into learning Various craft like tailoring and Shoemaking, as now been my profession and major source of income.

Thanks for checking out my blog post, if you want to know who @vickoly is😉, I'm a shoemaker, who is also into fashion designing and other related craft, to know more about me you can check out my Introduction post on hive, thanks once again, have a blessed and productive day ahead 🥰🥰.
