I've always been a fan of street art for the beauty it brings to the community and passersby; it always promises breathtaking views that are a joy to behold, and a few months ago, when I traveled to Ekiti State for a friend's wedding, I got to see some mind-blowing African art on the wall of the old palace of a town known as Emure in Ekiti State, Nigeria.
With how captivating it looks on the old structure, I decided to cross to the other side of the road to get a closer view, and that's how I ended up taking these pictures, as I appreciate the beauty it brings to the street.
Like I said, these works of art are on old palace walls, and each of the works on them portrays a typical African culture, with some items one will most likely find on a king in a Yoruba cultural heritage.
As you can see in the images, we've got the likes of a crown and a staff of office as the king being engraved on the wall. We also have a king with beads on his neck and wrist, which are a symbol of chieftains and power in Yoruba culture.
Another of these works of art that catches my attention is that of the drummer man. It reminds me of the fact that in ancient times, it was customary for a drummer to play and sing some praises of the king before he stepped out to address his people.
That's about my street art sight, and this is my first time in the community. The post is a participation in the CCC's Street Art Contest, for more information kindly check out this post
